Playing With Fire was a Super Smash Bros tournament series in Houston hosted by Fire Nation Smash, a competitive Smash Bros crew in the area. I was tasked with creating the promotional graphics and overall branding for the tournament series.
Rising From The Ashes
For the logo mark, I was tasked with creating a visual representation of a game controller on fire. The bird element symbolizes rising from the ashes while also referencing a bird-based character from the Super Smash Bros. franchise. The flaming wings help create visual balance within the composition by echoing the shape and placement of the hands beneath the controller.
I was tasked with designing a leaderboard graphic template for weekly tournament results. To maintain visual consistency with the organization's branding, I incorporated a repeating diamond motif throughout the design to represent sparks produced by flame. The diamond-shaped frames were also used to showcase each player's selected character, helping organize information while reinforcing the overall visual theme. The color palette remained consistent with the logo's branding while introducing additional warm tones to complement the fiery aesthetic.
